Scene 1

Voice (me but William is writing): Dear Journal, today i attended the burial of my sweet love, Khaija. How did my love die? It all started when we set off on the pilgrimage to the Holy City of Mecca, the city where many Arabs come to worship their gods. It was a blazing hot day and...

(flashback)

Abu Bakr: Come on my dear Khadija we are almost there, the next oasis is not far. Since we dont belong in their tribe we'll have to ask the skeik, the head member, to stay for one night.

Amira: My sister, we are inches away from there. Please get u...(pleading)

(William and Francine help Lucy get up)

Khadija: Thank y-AHHH my leg. (collapse and clutches leg, then pass out)

Amira: Oh no, my poor sister. Abu, help me carry her the rest of the way!

Scene 2

Abu Bakr: Sheik, please allow my dear, Khadija to stay here. She has painfully broken her leg.

Umar: Why, yes she may. I'll help bandage her leg and nurse her back to health.

Amira: Thank you.

(William and Francine leave and Lucy suddenly wakes up)

Khadija: Huj, where am I? Where's my love? And my sister?

Umar: Don't worry your friends are outside. In the meantime let's bandage up your leg and I'll help you walk again.

(bandages leg)

Umar: So tell me, what are you three travelers doing out here?

Khadija: We were journeying on our pilgrimage to Mecca. Now I'm afraid we won't get there in time, as my leg is broken.

Umar: Don't worry you all shall arrive in time.

Scene 3

(Bryan shows Lucy how to walk with a staff and they smile a lot)

Umar: My dear Khadija, your leg is healing well and the time shall come when you set off for Mecca once more.

Khadija: I do not want to leave you, I must confess that over these past two weeks I have fallen for you Umar.

Umar: I, myself, have also learned to love you, but you already have Abu. It would not be right...

(Francine is listening in and interrupts their conversation and she burst in)

Amira: Khadija! I am shocked that you would betray Abu like this! This is so unlike you!

Abu: Aren't you excited that your beautiful sister is able to travel with us again?

Amira: Umm...Abu...

Abu: I just love everything about her and her dazzling smile just lights up my face when I see her!

Amira: Abu, I don't know how to tell you this, but...

Abu: What? What's the matter?

Amira: Khadija is cheating on you...

Abu: What? You're lying; she would never cheat on me!

Amira: She and Umar were talking and I overheard them confess their love for each other.

Abu: No, this cant be happening...

(Rushes back to Khadija and overhears her talkin to Umar)

Umar: I love you Khadija.

Khadija: I love you too Umar.

Abu: (bursts in) No, it's not true. This can't be happening.

(Francine bursts in and all at once say...)

Khadija: Abu!

Umar: Abu!

Abu: So, it's true then...

(Everyone nods their head)

Abu: No, I'll win your heart back Khadija! (brings out knife/short sword)

(william brings out sword and prepares to kill Bryan)

Khadija: Stop! Stop it, you!

(runs in between william and Bryan and Williams stab her instead)

(Francine runs to Lucy's body)

Amira: What have you done? My poor sister's soul is now gone forever! (silently fake sob)

Abu: My dear love I'll never forget you! Come Amira, we must get away from this cursed oasis and the sheik. Let's continue to travel to Mecca, there we can pray to Allah, the one god. We might even meet Muhammad, Allah's prophet.

Amira: What's the point? My sister is dead and it's all because of... me! I should have never told you! (sob)

Umar: I am also sorry, it wasn't your fault it was mine. Now leave this small place watered my springs and wells. It is time for you to continue your pilgrimage.

Abu: Come amira we must leave, to pray for you sister's soul. I'll never forgive myself for this...

(flash to now)

Voice (me but William is writing): To this very day I'll never forgive myself. I will love you always and forever my beautiful Khadija.
